Five Safety Reasons to Purchase a New Vehicle

Auto Insurance

With each new model year, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, and the other car companies design new vehicles with new safety features. As an insurance agency, we are always excited about how these new features protect consumers and reduce the number of serious injuries and accidents.

In addition, new safety features might reduce the rate you’ll pay on your monthly auto insurance premiums!

Here are five safety features you can only find in newer vehicles:

1. Front Crash Prevention: Newer vehicles may feature front crash prevention. The sensors, positioned on the front of the vehicle, monitor the speed of other vehicles in the vicinity and evaluate distance. If the car is alerted of a potential crash, the wheel may vibrate, it may make a beeping noise, or it may provide visual cues. If you don’t respond, it will take action to try to prevent the crash by applying the brakes or taking other evasive maneuvers to lessen the impact of the collision.

2. Blind Spot Detection: Your automobile alerts you when someone is traveling in your blind spot. Often times, there will be lights on the side view mirrors. If the driver attempts to go into an occupied lane, the vehicle may activate steering control or apply the brakes to try to prevent the accident.

3. Lane Departure Prevention: If you’re sleepy or just not paying attention, it is easy to unintentionally slide slightly into another lane. On many newer vehicles, the automobile alerts you when you are moving out of the lane of travel.

4. Adaptive Headlights: On dark roads in the woods, it is hard to see in front of you. With adaptive headlights, it will attempt to point your headlights in the direction where you’re going to help with visibility.

5. Park Assist and Backover Protection: These cameras help with parking and reversing so you do not hit anything behind the car.

While all of these safety features are nice, it is important to remember to drive safely wherever you go. Don’t text and drive. Don’t drive when you are drowsy or drunk. If you need to be somewhere, and you can’t miss your meeting or special event, an Uber or Lyft is the way to go.
